Sometimes getting up to be an extra hour and a half early for school everyday can be a good thing. The students in Laramie High Schools advanced physical education class are beginning to realize the positive points of waking up early every day. Kayaking is just another one of the exciting sports the class has engaged in “it’s a fast pace, high risk class,” says Bryce Kmetz, LHS junior.
The “16 or 17 students in the class,” says Dylan Kramschuster junior at LHS, are planning to “take a two day trip, get out of school and go to Poudre.” The class has been doing various sports all year; kayaking is just another high point.
The class is looking forward to the trip, “we are going to shred up the kayaks, get some knar,” says Kmetz. The river they are going to is going to be a challenge, “it’s fun but it’s a good workout,” comments Sam Lundahl, LHS junior.
Even though they are very excited some of them are still a little nervous about “getting stuck or drowning,” says Lundahl, “but all you really have to do is not be stupid.” Kayaking is not just fun, it’s a very challenging event. “It’s easy to kayak but it’s really hard to roll,” adds Kramshuster
The trip is still not for awhile, “we just started haven’t had much practice yet,” Kramshuster adds. By the time they get to go on their two day trip they will have the needed experience and be ready to go.
