Bubbly and colorful, this year’s homecoming dance dove into an underwater experience at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown on Oct. 23. Guests entered the dance through a simulated submerged entrance with floating bubbles.
This year’s theme was “Underwater Escape,” thanks to the imaginings of class officers, student government, Pep Squad and Activities Director Ms. Felicia Christin.
The decorations consisted of a center piece that included sea horses, fishes and swirls; each seat had different colored light wands that went along the whole underwater feeling. The colorful decorations captivated the students as they began to arrive to the dance.
“I think everything came out pretty well,” said Christin. “I was happy with the results.”
The all-you-can-eat buffest on both sides of the room offered salad, alfredo and tomato sauce pasta, chicken, bread and cheese cake for dessert.
FoxMar captured memories in still pictures throughout the night and cameras roamed to film this event.
The activities office was able to sell 349 tickets, however, this was not enough to cover the full cost of decorations, DJ, and food.
“I’m in the hole for $1,500,” said Christin, but “it was money well spent.”
It did seem that students enjoyed this well-organized event.
“It was amazing,” said junior Megan Angulo. “I had fun and the food was delicious.”
The homecoming court was introduced and Melissa Valencia, the homecoming queen, opened the slow dance with her date and the court followed.
Almost every seat remained empty while students had fun on the dance floor. Power 96 deejayed the event as students danced the night away.
“It was awesome, the whole experience, the dancing and seeing all your friends look all nice,” said junior Cindy Cuandra.        “I think it came out the way kids wanted it,” said Christin.
