Last Friday, after the basketball game had ended and fans had gone home, StuGo held their annual lock-in at MHS.

In addition to fun and games, StuGo also discussed several items.

“The meeting on Friday was awesome. We had tons of fun. We planned homecoming. We talked about upcoming events for the year, and we ate lots of pizza,” English teacher Jessica Curl said. “It was just generally a good time for StuGo to get together and organize for next year, but also to kind of have some down time and just have some fun together as a group. ”

At the meeting, senior Anna Archer presented a homecoming theme, which all the members liked, according to Curl. Although the theme is not final yet, it will most likely be used. The proposed theme is Something to Remember.

Besides planning for homecoming, StuGo also discussed plans for putting signs up about littering in the front and back parking lots.

“We are getting signs made saying, ‘we’re

watching you,’ so people will throw their stuff [trash] away,” senior Nicole Ferguson said.

Another thing that StuGo is planning for is the Senior Madathon.

“Senior Madathon is an event occuring on a Saturday just for seniors and they participate and compete in all sorts of obstacles and silly races and games,” Curl said.

Stugo might also do match surveys for Valentine’s Day. The group also discussed doing something for the sub-state basketball tournament and the state basketball tournament.

The next meeting for StuGo will be held next Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. in Curl’s room.

“We will, by that point, have the candidates for homecoming, and we will start looking at decorations for the dance, too. We want to offer assistance to the cheerleaders, lining up spirit days, and getting posters ready.

And then, we’re looking to determine the department of the month, and also looking to make plans for the rest of the year,” Curl said.
