On Saturday, May 12, students and teachers worked side by side to begin restoring Weir High's campus as it nears the end of several years of construction, both inside the buildings and outside.
The School Beautification Committee, led by Mr. Angle, Mrs. DelRe, and Mrs. Pellegrino, used funds donated by the Key Club and raised through an apparel sale to purchase mulch, plants, and new shrubbery for the office entrance. These teachers worked with student helpers over two days to begin restoring the landscaping around the main entrance to the school.
Students and advisers from Key Club, the Debate Team, Student Council, and the National Honor Society came together to help make Weir High shine for the upcoming Commencement ceremony. Students, teachers, and Tink painted the gym lobby and theater doors, scrubbed down the bleachers, washed windows, and conducted a campus-wide litter pick-up.
Finally, the art class worked to re-paint the tomahawks and "W" logos on the sidewalks leading into the gym entrance. Former Weir art teacher Dee Bailey started this tradition, but construction has hindered its continuance. Ms. Zago and her students spent time reinstating the logos - thank you!
Thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and hard work to start revitalizing Weir's campus again. A special THANK YOU to Tink, who helped all the students and teachers organize the event! Be sure to check out the photo gallery from clean-up day!
