Lights begin to dim as the curtain opens to its audience anxiously awaiting the show for which they came.

Characters climb upon the stage making their entrance. The auditorium is silenced as the production of the school play begins. On Nov. 8-9, one might have noticed that some students were dressed in rather particular outfits throughout the school day.

Students were dressed up as their characters for that night’s production of the play “Rumors”, written by Neil Simon.

“Rumors” is a comedy that revolves around the scandal of four couples covering up an attempted suicide.

When the couples arrive to a party in a highly upper-class house, they discover that there are no servants, the hostess is gone, and the host has shot himself through the earlobe.

Hosting the show is Charley Brock, the deputy, so they all want to keep it quiet. Throughout the play the couples gossiped and spread rumors about the reasoning of the attempted suicide that took place.

The couples play off the attempted suicide of their friend, as the police come to investigate.

Some of the main characters included seniors Leslie Dickinson, Benjamin Hess, Andrew Niemchick, Amanda Evilsizor, Amanda Hart, and Tyler Vawter some of which have had roles in previous school productions.

School plays aren’t the only productions going on throughout the community.

“Brigadoon”, a musical will be presented on March 27, 28 and 29 at 7:00 pm and on March 30, 2008 at 3:00 pm in the auditorium. Orchestra students received special direction from the director of the play, Andy Zerban.

The story follows two New Yorkers who get lost while hunting in Scotland.

Once they have become too exhausted to go on, they discover the village of Brigadoon. The village of the Brigadoon only comes into being for one day in each century.

“Brigadoon” is a musical filled with show tunes that portrays a silly stereotype of Scotland. Cast auditions will take place in the auditorium Tuesday Dec. 4 and Saturday Dec. 8. Auditions are open for all ages.

The plays are great ways to get involved with the community and will become a great experience for anyone who becomes involved with them. It would be very beneficial to become a part of these.
